SJCPL Online Book Club

March 7, 2021 | By: Communications Staff

While we’re stuck at home, cooking mac & cheese and ordering toilet paper online, let’s read and talk together! In Why We Can’t Sleep, author Ada Calhoun combines years of research, anecdotes about growing up in the 1970s and 1980s and modern female friendships to tell the story of Gen X’s Midlife Crisis.

Let’s read the book in segments, then meet to share our thoughts and make new connections and community in SJCPL’s first Online Book Club.

We’ll meet for the first time via Google Hangout (link below), so that we can all talk and see each other, and we’ll see how it goes! This is an experiment but it’ll be a great one – we can’t wait to meet everyone and hear what you are thinking as we read together.

Schedule:

Wed., 3/25, 8 p.m.: We’ll discuss the Author’s Note, the Intro and Chapter 1

Fri., 3/27: Discuss chapters 2 & 3

Sun., 3/29: Discuss chapters 4 & 5

Tues., 3/31: Discuss chapters 6 & 7

Thurs., 4/2: Discuss chapters 8 & 9

Sat., 4/4: Discuss chapters 10 & 11

Mon., 4/6: Meet Author Ada Calhoun
