Hundreds of Journeys

January 8, 2018 | By: Communications Staff

Enjoy musical numbers from In the Heights by Lin-Manuel Miranda, performed by guests from the South Bend Civic Theatre, as we announce our 2018 One Book, One Michiana title on Monday, February 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Library’s First Floor Café.

In the Heights tells the story of the vibrant Latin American community in New York City’s Washington Heights neighborhood; a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.

In the Heights, celebrating its 10 year anniversary, is the winner of the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations.
