St. Joe County Public Library board names new executive director

The St. Joe County Public Library board has voted unanimously to name Stephanie Murphy as the next executive director of the library beginning July 1. 

Murphy is currently the director of New Carlisle-Olive Township Public Library, where she has served since 2017. During her tenure, she implemented new and creative services such as the Library of Things, an outdoor Exploration Garden for children, a fine-free library and rotating gallery for regional artists. 

Currently, Murphy serves on the Indiana Library Federation Board of Directors and also serves as the secretary of the New Carlisle Business and Community Association

Prior to serving the New Carlisle-Olive Township Public Library, she served in multiple roles at the La Porte County Public Library, including as a youth librarian, branch supervisor, and public services manager. She earned a Master’s of Library Science from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.
