SJCPL Writes: A Literary Journal by the St. Joe County Public Library

SJCPL Writes is the official literary journal of the St. Joe County Public Library and is published annually. We seek to reflect the experiences of the community in St. Joseph County by providing an inclusive space for teens and adults of all backgrounds to publish their works of fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and art. Previous digital publications of SJCPL Writes can be found through our catalog.

2025 Call for Submissions

Are you a writer or artist with a story to tell? SJCPL Writes is now accepting submissions of short fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and art inspired by the theme “Home.” Whether you’re an aspiring teen writer or a seasoned adult storyteller, this is your chance to share your work with the community.

Submission Guidelines

  • Who Can Submit: Teens (ages 12+) and adults
  • Submission Period: December 1, 2024 – January 31, 2025
  • What We’re Looking For:
    • Short fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and digital art
    • Work appropriate for all ages (photography not accepted)

Format Requirements:

  • Written submissions:
    • Microsoft Word document or Google Doc
    • 12-point Arial font, single-spaced, with line breaks between paragraphs
    • Maximum 2,000 words for prose
  • Digital art:
    • High-quality images with 300 dpi resolution
  • Language: English or Spanish
