How do I get a St. Joseph County Public Library card?
Residents of the following townships can apply for a free library card by visiting any SJCPL location: Centre, Clay, Greene, German, Liberty, Portage, Union or Warren Townships. Residents of Harris, Lincoln, Olive, and Penn Townships are required to get a home library card before they can get an SJCPL card.
All applicants must provide a picture ID with current address to verify your identity and residency. If your photo ID does not have a current address, please bring in current mail from an institution or government agency. Examples include a household bill, bank statement, or health insurance letters.

How do I:
You may access your library card account online by logging in to My Account and entering your barcode number and PIN. Once logged in, you may view checked out items, place holds, renew items, and pay fines.
How do I set up or reset a PIN?
For security purposes, you will need to visit the library or call 574.282.4646 to set up or reset a PIN for your account. Please have your library card barcode number ready when calling.
How long may I keep my materials? Is there a fee? What are the overdue charges?
Books, magazines, CDs, audiobooks, art prints and toys may be checked out for 21 days at no cost. These items may be renewed for two additional 21 day loan periods. Overdue fines are 25 cents per item, per day.
DVDs, video games, and CD-ROMs may be checked out for 7 days for a fee of 50 cents per day, beginning on the day the item is checked out. These items may not be renewed. Overdue fines are 50 cents per item, per day.

Where may I return materials?
Books, CDs, DVDs, video games, CD-ROMS, magazines and audiobooks may be returned to any SJCPL location. Studio 304 equipment must be returned in-person to the Studio 304 service desk at the Keller Park Branch. Discovery Passes must be returned in-person to the service desk at the River Park Branch.
How do I request a book from another library system?
Books from other library systems may be checked out through our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service. To request ILL materials, call 574.282.4646 or email email@example.com.
How do I see my borrowing history?
Borrowing history must be enabled by the user; due to privacy concerns, the library does not keep a record of items checked out. For detailed steps on how to enable your borrowing history, click here.
How may I enable or change my account notifications?

Please note that individuals with an AT&T affiliated email addresses—those ending in @att.net, @sbcglobal.net, or @ameritech.net—are having their courtesy notices, hold notices, and overdue notices blocked. Our IT staff is working on resolving this issue.
