28th Annual Photography Contest Returns!
Capture the heart of Michiana! The 28th annual Life in Michiana Photography Contest invites community members to share photos that showcase what makes our area unique and beautiful. Whether it’s a stunning landscape, a candid community moment, or the vibrant wildlife that calls Michiana home, we want to see it through your lens!

Entries accepted online November 16, 2026 to January 15th, 2027.
How to Enter
- Submission Process: Entries are accepted exclusively via our online submission form.
- Entry Limit: Each photographer may submit up to two entries.
- Categories: Choose from five categories to best represent your photo:
- Animals
- People
- Places
- Happenings
- Still Life
Judging and Community Voting
After the submission period closes, a panel of professional photographers and library staff will select the top 20 entries. These will be posted online for public voting, allowing the community to choose their favorites.
Exhibition & Award Ceremony
Celebrate the best of Michiana! Selected photographs will be showcased in the second-floor Gallery at Main Library from February 25 through March 7, 2027. An awards ceremony and reception will be held on Thursday, February 25 at 5:30 pm in the Gallery. The finalist photos will be on display, as well as a digital presentation of all of the submissions.
Photo Specifications
To ensure your submission meets our guidelines, please follow these specifications:
- Location: Photos must be taken in the Michiana area, highlighting the people, places, or events that make our community special.
- Quality: Images should be at least 300 dpi with a maximum size of 11”x14”. Aim for a file size of 2MB or more.
- Format: All types of photography are welcome, including black-and-white, color, and digitally enhanced images.
- Suitability: Photos must be appropriate for public and community display.
Limit: One photograph per entry form (up to two entries per person).
