Eerie Imaginings Writing Contest

What is an eerie imagining? Perhaps a strange or frightening tale, or a mysterious and chilling story. And who doesn’t love spooky stories? In fact, the Library is a fan of eerie imaginings. Each fall, young writers (grades 3-12) are welcome to submit a terrifying tale (1-5 pages) to delight and fright readers of all ages.

Winners from each age group (grades 3-5, 6-8, 9-12) will receive a $50 Target gift card. Two runner-ups from each age group will receive a $25 Target gift card.

Please note that stories should not be excessively violent or graphic, should be appropriate for all ages, and should be the student’s own original work. While fanfiction is wonderful, we will not be accepting it for this contest.

Submissions will be accepted until October 6, 2023. Any story submitted after October 6 will not be eligible for consideration. Winners will be announced at our Eerie Imaginings Ceremony on Wednesday, October 25 at 6pm in the Story House at Main Library.

Please join us in congratulating all of our 2023 winners:
