Who is Laufey?
Laufey (pronounced lay-vay) is a two-time GRAMMY® Award-winning Icelandic-Chinese singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist known for blending jazz, classical music, and pop.
A lifelong reader and musician, she founded the Laufey Book Club in 2022, bringing fans around the world together through shared monthly reads. Her first children’s book, Mei Mei The Bunny, became a New York Times bestseller.
In 2026, Laufey is also serving as the American Library Association’s honorary chair for Library Card Sign-Up Month. As a result, she has partnered with nearly 50 libraries, including SJCPL, to offer limited-edition library cards.
