How to Attend

All events are free, and a library card is not required to attend. Registration is not required prior to attending.


Brendan Slocumb

Event Date: January 21st, 2026 – 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Music saved Brendan Slocumb’s life, and now it fuels his bestselling novels. Join the acclaimed author of The Violin Conspiracy and Symphony of Secrets as he shares how his journey from classroom teacher to celebrated novelist shaped his stories of art, identity, and perseverance.


Laila Lalami

Event Date: April 15th, 2026 – 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Laila Lalami is the author of six acclaimed books, including The Moor’s Account—winner of the American Book Award and finalist for the Pulitzer and Booker Prizes—and The Other Americans, a National Book Award finalist and national bestseller. Her work has been translated into more than twenty languages, and her essays have appeared in major outlets such as The New York Times, The Guardian, and Harper’s. A Guggenheim and Fulbright fellow, she lives in Los Angeles. Her latest novel, The Dream Hotel, was published in March 2025.
