Join us for a fun-filled morning celebrating early literacy and the vibrant colors of Mexican culture! Based on Duncan Tonatiuh’s book ¡Fiesta! A Festival of Colors, this interactive event is designed for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers. Through stories, music, dancing, and hands-on activities, children will explore early literacy skills while celebrating the beauty of diverse traditions.

Opening Act: ¡Fiesta! A Festival of Colors
10:30 am – 11:10 am
Location: Leighton Auditorium
Enjoy an immersive retelling of ¡Fiesta! A Festival of Colors featuring the Tierra Viva Mexican Folkloric Dance Group. Read, sing, and dance along with traditional Mexican music. Each child will receive a colorful scarf and maraca to use during the performance and take home (while supplies last).

Programs: Two Breakout Sessions

Session 1: 11:20 am – 11:50 am
Session 2: 12:00 pm – 12:30 pm

  • Music Makers with Ms. Darla: Dance and sing along with scarves and sing-alongs to get those wiggles out! (Ages 3-5)
  • Celebrate Fiesta with Raclin Murphy Museum of Art: Meet a friendly four-legged friend from Mexico and create colorful prints using surprising materials! (Ages 4-5)
  • STEAM Babies: Introduce early science, technology, engineering, art, and math concepts through interactive sensory play. (Ages 0-2)
  • Dance & Move with the Children’s Dance Workshop: Get creative with dance, movement, and gross motor skill-building activities. (Ages 0-5)

  • Food & Drink: Rico Suave Food Truck and St. Joe Coffee Co. will be open during the event!
