Each year, Indiana librarians nominate five picture books with high artistic quality and compelling narratives that support early literacy, but it is children who ultimately decide the winner. The Indiana Firefly Award is an initiative of the Indiana Center for the Book that gives children ages 0-5 the opportunity to cast their vote on which nominated title is their favorite. Votes will be collected at each of our locations and online each Spring until July 31.
How to Vote
Participating in the voting process is easy.
- To vote in person, go to any St. Joe County Public Library location and ask how to vote.
- Make sure you and your child have read all the books available, then fill out a ballot or add your sticker to the wall display.
- If you prefer to vote online, you can go directly to the online voting form. Votes will be accepted until July 31.
Questions about the Firefly Award can be sent to the Emily Lovell, Early Literacy Librarian at e.lovell@sjcpl.org.
