Curbside pick-up is expanding to LaSalle, Western, German, Tutt, and Lakeville Branches! Curbside pick-up will be available at all library locations beginning Monday, June 8.
Curbside pick-up is available Monday through Saturday during normal business hours.
Here is how it works:
Request an item* by making a holds request in the catalog, by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, or by calling 574-282-4646 (press 2 for curbside).
Library staff will get to work getting your items together. Processing will take 1-3 days.
When your items are ready, you will receive a notification by phone or email. Make sure your contact preferences are up to date in your library account. You will have 5 days to pick up your items.
Pull up to the designated curbside delivery spots in the library parking lot.
Call the branch number to let them know you have arrived. The number will be listed on a sign near the parking lot.
Pop your trunk and a staff member will come out to place your items inside your vehicle. For our safety and yours, please do not exit your vehicle at any point in this process.
*5 item limit to requests made over the phone. Kits and Studio 304 equipment are not eligible for curbside pick-up.
Place returned items in the designated book drop. All returned materials will be quarantined for 3 days and will not be marked as “returned” in your account until they are released. However, fines will not be accrued during that time.
Patrons should place book donations in the book drop. Branches can arrange large donations curbside by appointment.
Fine & Fee Payment
Pay fines and fees online. We can not accept payment in person at this time. Contact the library at email@example.com or 574-282-4646 if you have any questions.
Health & Safety
To protect the health and wellbeing of the public and library staff, stringent safety procedures are being followed. These measures apply to library staff working in the buildings as well as to interactions between the public and staff.
Returned materials will be quarantined for 72 hours before becoming available for check out.
Staff are required to wear SJCPL-provided, CDC-compliant face masks while on duty.
SJCPL requires social distancing of at least 6 feet between staff and the public.
The number of staff working in a branch at any given time has been reduced and workstations are spaced at least 6 feet apart.
Staff will follow CDC guidelines while assembling materials for public pick up. They will wear gloves to bring materials outside.
Disinfectant wipes and sprays, and hand sanitizer, are located prominently throughout the branch.
High-touch areas and materials are disinfected routinely.
