...for spending the day with us at Open Book this year! Over 1,800 people walked through our doors last Saturday! You came and filled our halls and meeting rooms with laughter and excitement, making our family festival a success.
Thank you, to our wonderful performers who shared their talents with us: Eric Litwin, Tim Hannig, Mike Mullin and the IU South Bend Gospel Choir of the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts. Thank you volunteers, who donated your time and energy, and everyone who worked hard to bring this event to fruition.

Special appearance by Pete the Cat before and after Eric Litwin’s shows in the Lower Level Lobby!
Eric Litwin, #1 New York Times Best-Selling author of the first four Pete the Cat picture books

Eric Litwin (AKA Mr. Eric) is a New York Times best-selling author of Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes published by Harper Collins. He is a song singing, guitar strumming, book writing, harmonica blowing, banjo picking, award-winning, folksy, fun type of guy. In his exciting and interactive performances children sing, dance, laugh, and fall in love with books. Eric will share delightful folk songs from around the world, some information about his popular Pete the Cat stories and his new book, Bedtime at the Nut House.
Tim Hannig & the Pro-Kids Show
Lower Level -- Colfax Auditorium

Tim Hannig is an award-winning entertainer who has performed in Canada, England, and all across the USA, including performances for Six Flags, the Chicago White Sox and The White House. Tim loves using laughter, magic and music to entertain and inspire. Tim recently won both 1st Place and the People’s Choice Awards in the Chicago Magic Competition. You won’t want to miss this great family event for all ages.
Mike Mullin -- "How is Taekwondo Like Writing?"
Lower Level -- Humphreys Multimedia Room
Join Mike Mullin, author of the Ashfall trilogy, as he discusses how to become a better writer, shares a little information about the Yellowstone supervolcano, and attempts to smash a concrete block with his bare hand. Mike Mullin’s book Ashfall has received several awards including winner of the Best Children/Young Adult Books of Indiana 2011 and is an Eliot Rosewater High School Book Award Nominee for 2013-2014. A book signing will follow.
The IU South Bend Gospel Choir of the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts
First Floor -- Café
This energetic ensemble, directed by Tamra Garrett, is made up of students and community musicians. The choir has toured to the east coast, and regularly performs with the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, among others.
Relax in the Family Picnic Room
Lower Level -- Dickinson Room
10:00am – 2:30pm
Pack your lunch and relax for a quick break between shows. We will provide water. Vending machines with drinks and snacks are available in the 1st Floor Café.
Craft Activities for Kids
3rd Floor -- Storytime Room

Books and CDs by featured authors and performers as well as storybook character books and more will be available for sale in the Lower Level Lobby, courtesy of Barnes & Noble.
